The Centre of Hope’s vision is to address homelessness, by inspiring hope and encouraging change through love, kindness and acceptance. The Centre of Hope has a day time drop in program offered 7 days a week, 365 days a year, from 830-430pm. Located at 1 McLeod Street, within the downtown, inner core of our city. All of our programs and services are FREE.

The Fort McMurray Family Crisis Society offers many different programs and services to individuals and families experiencing violence in their relationships and who are in need of support, intervention, education and advocacy. Unity House is a shelter that has 30 beds for abused and homeless women and children. It provides safe, secure accommodations for up to 21 days. Information, education, support and preventative services are provided free of charge.

Pastew Place Detox Centre is a non-medical, residential facility with hospitals and paramedic backup. Our mission is to provide physical and emotional support to those wishing to detoxify from the effects of substance abuse and problem gambling. A Day Program is offered Monday-Friday for all clients, their families, and anyone else who would like to learn more about addictions. Our programming, which includes Pre-Treatment, also allows clients to stay at the centre for up to two weeks.

After its founding in London, England in 1865, The Salvation Army began its work in Canada in 1882, just fifteen years after Confederation and quickly became a vital part of the spiritual and social services life in the community. The salvation Army Community Services Centre has been operating in Fort McMurray since 1982. We operate a variety of programs from the Centre to assist clients in our community.

Fort McMurray Search and Rescue Society. A trained volunteer organisation that assists the local RCMP or Emergency Services with ground search and rescue operations in the Regional Municiplaity of Wood Buffalo. Search & Rescue may be called to search in other areas of north eastern Alberta. Search methods include but are not limited to foot, ATV, snowmachines, helicopters and boats.

Some Other Solutions was established to address the problems relating to crisis or giving rise to crisis. Its mission is: To Coordinate, Develop, and Implement services related to crisis prevention, intervention postvention in Fort McMurray and North-eastern Alberta. The Society is run by a volunteer board of Directors and employs qualified staff to administer crisis prevention programs. All of the programs rely on a skilled and committed core of volunteers. Over one hundred volunteers contribute to SOS programs

 

 

Fort McMurray Victim Services unit works closely with the RCMP to provide immediate short-term help to victims of crime and misfortune, by providing information, support and referrals during their time of crisis.

The Transitional Outreach Program assists with the community’s commitment to reduce the homeless population. By providing daily support to the client, the program is able to coach those who have not had the opportunity to understand Landlord expectations, provide access to necessary skills and community supports integral to maintain housing. Clients will have ample opportunity to work on the employment skills, addiction issues, abuse issues, self-esteem and trust issues. This program is committed to operate on mutual respect and ensuring the dignity of everyone who enters is kept intact.
