Halloween Spirits For United Way

United Way will be “raising the mercury” again Friday morning at 8:30 on the Hospital Street thermometer by Walmart.  Join us for a special presentation to the crew that keeps their spirits high as they brave the cold weather to keep the community on top of our progress toward our $5 Million goal.

“The success being reported in many of the workplace campaigns is amazing” reports Diane Shannon, Executive Director of the United Way.  “What the thermometers can’t measure is the good-spirited fun and pride also being raised in our community!”

During this week we saw all kinds of great United Way SPIRIT events:

Annual President’s Cup hockey challenge took place between Syncrude & Suncor
Chili Challenge at CNRL pitted UW “Shaken not Stirred” Chili against challengers
Raffles of helicopter rides & front door parking passes, heads shaved, bosses duct-taped to the wall, a used DVD sale, & a carved pumpkin auctioned for $300
Halloween theme wrap-up at Nexen announced at least 150% of their goal raised

This weekend there are two more great Community & Halloween SPIRIT events:

-       The Classic Shoot-Out, with a “Dead Legends” theme, brings community leaders to the stage at Keyano to entertain – tickets available at Keyano Theatre.  Pre-carved pumpkins for sale so you don’t have to do the work.  Enjoy champagne and bid on auction items!

-       Spooktacular Drive-In Movie sponsored by Big Spirit Wood Buffalo and Fort McMurray Tourism.  Safe, family fun beginning at 7:00 Halloween night.  Free car passes at http://www.fortmcmurraytourism.com/  Donations to United Way.
