The ECSF was announced by the Government of Canada and is administered in collaboration with United Way Centraide Canada, Community Foundations of Canada and the Canadian Red Cross.
“Canadian charities and not for profits are always there to help you, in your time of need. But the COVID-19 pandemic is bringing real challenges to these important organizations,” said The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development. “With today’s announcement, the Government of Canada will be there for them so they can continue to be there for Canadians.”

2. Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo COVID-19 Community Response Fund
United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo (UWFMWB) is positioned to support those who need it the most. We may be working at home, but it’s business as usual with our priority to ensure donations remain hard at work, supporting those in the community who find themselves struggling.
Monetary gifts made through this fund, from companies, organizations , families and individuals , were used to support organizations in Wood Buffalo dealing with the effects of COVID-19, recovering, and adapting.
To maximize our impact we partnered with United Way Alberta Capital Region in Edmonton to leverage the Government of Alberta’s Charitable Donation Matching program.
